gadgets are gone in win 8+ but im sure there on things outside the gadget system to do what you want. even more extreme uses like Rainmeter, desktop customization tool (http://rainmeter.net/)

I run NT on win 10 in a VM with no issues at all....

I run NT on win 10 in a VM with no issues at all. I mean win 10 is basically win 8 with a facelift or revamped design. same solid stability.
