would be interested to hear impressions of W10 as you use it guys. especially how sierra runs on it, seeing as how it did not really run on W8, which is why I'm still on W7.

What kind of problems did you have with it on Windows 8?

Windows 10 is what Windows 8 should have been. I'm on a desktop, but there is no hint of Metro here, no "Charms" and widget crap, it's down to business and basically a drop-in replacement for Windows 7 from what I am seeing.

If it actually ran on Win8, it would crash, IIRC. It's on sierra's web site, they basically say "don't run SC on win8"

Is anybody running NinjaTrader on Windows 10, and if so, how are you finding it?

I run NT on win 10 in a VM with no issues at all. I mean win 10 is basically win 8 with a facelift or revamped design. same solid stability.

dont believe anything you hear and only half of what you see

I can confirm that right out of the box, Windows 10 was perfect. I didn't even reboot after the initial installation until a few minutes ago. It installed all my display drivers, did all the updates, and allowed me to install Java, IB TWS/Gateway, Sierra, and some other key apps without any issues. I did install the "new spreadsheets" version which I believe is .NET-less, so that may or may not have made a difference. But that's the same version I've been using for a year or more.

The most painful part of the entire process has just been in sitting up Office 2013 again, Outlook in particular. I hate more than anything in this world having to manage multiple IMAP/POP/Exchange mailboxes, but I've yet to find a viable replacement...

You might be dead in the water if you ever need to report anything to NinjaTrader support, however. That said, I would highly recommend against running NinjaTrader on Windows 10.

Something I can't figure out so far is how to add a 'gadget' to the desktop. I used to have a calendar and a CPU performance gadget on my desktop at all times, I feel incomplete without it, especially the calendar since I usually don't know what day it is.

If anyone can tell me how to do this...

gadgets are gone in win 8+ but im sure there on things outside the gadget system to do what you want. even more extreme uses like Rainmeter, desktop customization tool

Been using Widows 10 this week on my backup system without any problems, very easy install over windows 7. I am running NinjaTrader 7 with data feeds from Kinetick and Rithmic. ScottradeElite wth their data feed. Fidelity Active Trader with their data feed. Thinkorswim with TD Ameritrades data feed. Rithmic Trader with Rithmic data feed. Also various security and other utility programs. I have not used this system to place live trades, it only monitors the trades I take on my main system. I will not do live trades for many months until the final release of Windows 10 and support from my venders. I do miss my CPU performance gadget and world clocks (Microsoft claims active desktops are a security risk..BullSh**.. ask anybody using Unix based system they been using it for many years without security problems.). Sounds like Big Mike is going live with his and I must admit the last time I saw a prerelease run this well was XP.
