NewsAlerts is a helper indicator in that you must find out the news items for the day and configure the indicator with those news items. I use jtEconNews2a configured so it alerts me. However, I find that I forget about the news. So, I wrote this indicator to display a message prior to the news item and leaving the message on the price panel so I don' t forget about it. You can add the news items each morning before you start trading and they will clear after the news item expires. You can configure 3 news items. So, if there are several news items at the same time, just configure one item. That about covers it. I hope you find it as useful as I do.

This is an utility application which I wrote to keep me out of the markets when there is major news coming out (alarm sound). It is so damn easy to forget while you are heavily scalping the markets The application can download the latest news file (must be done at least once a week) from the DailyFx.com site and you can edit the news file to include your own news. You can minimize it to the system tray so it does not allocate your screen space. If you edit the news file remember to run the download again but answer "No" to the question so the app will use the existing/edited one.
How to install:
Create a folder and unzip the files to it.
How to run:
Run the NewsGuard.exe in the folder you just created (working directory must be the same). This is virus free !
Help:
Simple application needs a simple help ? I think you can understand easily the settings in this application. If you have something to ask please post a message in the support thread https://nexusfi.com/elite-circle/5033-newsguard.html

Update: I got tired of needing to go into the indy in order to change font and color, so added some buttons to mod them for each note in the form.
This is a very simple indicator that doesn't do a lot. It simply adds up to 10 customizable notes to a side panel of user defined width. I am posting it because it illustrates how to place a button on the toolstrip and how to call an external form from said button.
With multi-timeframe charts a refresh of one indicator cause all real time indicators to reconfigure as historic indicators, causing the plots to change slightly. Being able to call a form from an indicator allows the user to change the parameters of that indicator w/o disturbing any other indicators.
I have attached the indicator and will post the VS project files if anyone is interested. To install the indicator, extract NotesPanelFull.zip to your Custom folder w/o NinjaTrader running. Start NT and import NotesPanel. Because it is a .dll based form you will need to edit the indicator and right click in the window to Add NotesEditor.dll reference. Compile the indicator and add it to a chart.
When you want to change a note, News @ 10?, just click the Notes button on the right of the toolstrip. Change your notes and OK, or just leave to Form open. Unlike other NT forms, it is not modal.

Hi All,
The market I trade goes from 9:50AM to 4:30PM.
During this time I get so wrapped in the trades that I tend to forget about what time it is and other external or market related events that happen at specific times.
As an example, most morning trends tend to finish around 11:30AM.
But there are also other events that happen that can effect the price of the market I'm trading, such as Forex news announcements, CPI news etc. All of these are at specfic times of the day (I use ForexFactory.com to look up this information each morning and enter into this study)
So I tought it would be handy to have a reminder/alarm clock for these events.
So the the attached file study allows 3 time based events to be entered that will generate Alerts in Multicharts 10min prior, 5min prior and the actual event time. There is also a EOD (End of Day) time that can also be entered.
When the Alert happens, it displays the yellow Multicharts Alert box with the description of the Alert that was triggered ie "CPI News Announcement"
The Alert/Propeties can be set to automatically clear after a certain period ie 10secs or only clear by clicking on the alert with the mouse. (My preferred way)

Hello Traders, Rev 3... Astute trader NgoLimit suggested an enhancement. I have added the ability to change the drawing style.
Rev 2...An astute trader found a slight oversight in the code. The line size went to a fixed width if history was not enabled. I have fixed this. Thanks Aregon!
Rev 1...I have enhanced the capabilities a little. Now you can name the event. In the example, I have the CL Pit Open, the Equities Open and the CL Pit Close. I hope that this is useful for you...
Bob
Hello Traders, Here is an NT8 indicator that marks the pit open, or any other time based event such as a news event or inventory report or the like. It paints a horizontal line from the event and extends for x hours. Since the time can be set, you could use several instances of the indicator for the Open, News Event or whatever you like. You have the Option of turning the text on or off and the option of printing historical events. Since the indicator uses a synthesized 1Minute time base, you can put it on virtually any chart type and the time-price mark will always be correct. I use it for the CL Pit Open and important news events.

Exported using NT version 7.0.1000.26
Only to be used with minute or daily charts.
The relative volume indicator measures the volume of a fixed period bar against the average volume over the same period during the preceding n days. The version which can be downloaded here allows for two different comparisons:
All_Days: Today's volume is compared to the average volume of the N preceding business days. The default value is N = 40. With the setting "All_Days" the indicator requires the use of proper session templates which match the trading day of the instrument traded. Session templates that cut the week into arbitrary sessions - such as the session template 24/7 - cannot be handled by the indicator and will trigger an error message.
Day_Of_Week: Today's volume is compared to the average volume calculated for the same day of the week over the N preceeding weeks. The default value is N = 8. With the setting "Day_Of_Week", all session templates can be handled.
Holidays: Holidays as selected via the indicator dialogue box are excluded from all calculations.
Daylight savings schedules: The indicator automatically adjusts to different daylight savings zones.
The histogram shows the relative volume for the period of the day. For example on the chart today's highest relative volume occured after a news release, just prior to the start of the regular session. Compared to the last 40 business days, the relative volume was 593% (about 6 times higher than for a normal business), whereas it was 509% (about 5 times higher than for a normal Friday). The cumulated volume for today is 26% higher compared to an average business day and 20% higher compared to an average Friday.
Average volume bars - between 80% and 120% of normal volume - are shown as white bars. If the relative volume exceeds 120% the histogram color is green, below 80% it is red. The colors can be selected by the user.
Update February 26, 2013: Following the rescheduling of the daily trading sessions by CME in November 2012, the indicator did not work correctly. I had published a new version in the thread on the Relative Volume Indicator, which is now available for download here.
Update October 28, 2013: Null check added when calling ChartControl. The indicator can now be used as input series for other indicators or strategies.
Update December 5, 2014: Indicator entirely recoded. Indicator is now considerably faster and should cope with different data feeds. Option added to compare today's volume to all prior business days. The prior version could only do comparisons for the same day of the week.
Update December 10; 2014: Error message added to inform user when the chart lookback period is insufficient.
Update December 29, 2014: Holiday calendar and error messages updated.

Hello Traders, there are several reasons to mark certain times. Perhaps you like to mark the 30 and 60 minute time slots, the open of the market, the volatility slots or news releases. This indicator will paint from your start time to your end time.
You can have several instances with different times and different colors and opacity.
I have used this indicator through several instances of NT 8 and several bar types with no issues. This was compiled on NT8 V 14.2

January 26th, 2011 10:00 AM lawtan Thanks for this great tool! However, dailyfx csv file sometimes have the currency codes in small letters e.g. "usd" in
stead of "USD". In such case your program cannot capture the corresponding event in the alarm.
November 21st, 2010 11:03 PM BDawg Thanks for this utility!
If you are baving trouble running this on Win7, try running NewsGuard as "administrator".
Go to the directory where you unzipped the newsguard application and other files.
Right click on the newsguard application icon.

September 5th, 2021 02:08 PM bobc635 @BKOp... Hi and thanks for the feedback.... I dont use Bloodhound so I dont know what they are looking for. The line
is drawn from a Draw.Line statement, whose parameters are defined by the AddPlot statement in the State.Configure... P
erhaps in your BH documentation they define what is needed. You can either have a codie that uses BH do the mod for you
, or send me the documentation and I will re-configure the indie to do what they prescribe. Since I dont have BH, you w
ill have to check it out and we will go back and forth to debug it.
Thanks and Trade Well...
