Part of trade/money management .... as in 'I will leave a runner in place'.

Means a trader who has a live trade made up of multiple contracts, most of which have set profit targets (or have already been filled on reaching those targets) but one or more contracts are left 'open' with no specific 'take profit target'. The trader assess price action to determine when to take profit on the runner(s) contract.
