Hi bxman, I think there is a lot more that will factor into your choice of broker, like, are you algo?, are you an orderflow guy? are you a book guy? are you a DOM guy? do you have a ton of money for margin? little money? windows or mac? want an iOS app? as of right now the answer to your question in my humble opinion would be "any that offers bund and treasury"
Thanks for reply. I will be self directed trading based off combo of fundamental and technical analysis. Charts and DOM will be key parts of determining when to enter and exit the market. Margins are less of an interest for me as I will start small and have cash to cover it so that's last on list. Looking for support combined with reasonable all in trading costs.
I'm also looking for a platform that allows forultiple screens, my understanding is that means cqg q trader won't work so am focused on r trader pro and Sierra charts. Any thoughts?
If you are looking for chart customization, then Sierra is one of the best. I have CQG Qtrader as DOM but thinking of switching to Rtrader Pro as well. You can use the SAME feed which u cannot with the Qtrader/Sierra combo.
Now the catch is u pay $20/month but if u do more than 40RT then its essentially free (as per Amp)
@bxman most of my experience is on TradeStation, so I cant speak for many other platforms, however, it does everything you're asking for here, and in the US it has the added bonus that its your platform provider, broker, and data feed provider, so theres only one number to call when anything goes wrong, which isnt very often. Worth taking a look
Seems tiered actually makes it pretty competitive, I'll def give tradestation a shot.... Can I get the platform when I'm based In UK... Website makes it seem like I need to be in the US?
Thanks
HI @bxman, they take the UK pretty seriously and had a really big event there this year. I think they have a lot of customers there. One undeniable fact about Tradestation is that it has a lot of "winners" that use it. if you look up people who have won the futures trading world cup, there's at least 3 names that did with TS. Kevin Davey, Michael Cook, and Larry Williams.
