Does Bracket orders work the same on a life account as they do in the replay? Ive noticed that the price for TP and SL for bracket orders is derived from the Last price when you actually click the order button, not from the actual fill price. When the markets moving fast, especially at market open, ive noticed that the orders are way off from my fill price, for example i regularly use 5pt for both the TP and SL, however they routinely wind up being lower on the TP and higher on the SL end. I had one trade today that the brackets wound up being 2pt TP and 8pt SL instead of 5 and 5, and thats just wholely unacceptable. This happens on both the mobile app and desktop during market replay, does this happen to anyone else and when live trading? If so is there anyway to fix it?
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
I no longer use Tradovate but when I did use them a few years ago, I also ran into the same problem. I'm assuming you're entering with market orders when you get this issue, since I also had the same issue when using market orders, especially in a fast market. (And to answer your question, yes, this happens on live accounts as well)
Basically it seemed like when I entered with a market order, the SL and TP levels were based off something else besides the actual entry fill price. It was extremely frustrating trying to trade using Tradovate with bracket orders, if entering trades at market.
At the time, I tried to create a thread about this issue on their support forum. All threads had to be approved by their moderator though and for some reason they didn't allow my question to be posted. It was like they truly had no idea what I was talking about. This was a couple years ago, so I'm really surprised it's still an issue. I wonder if they recognize it at this point. If I were you I would email support to see if they now can at least understand the question. I stopped using them because of this-- it was just completely impossible to trade when you can't even trust the brackets. Good luck!
Thanks for the response. Yeah its extremely annoying, from what i can tell it bases the bracket order prices off of the last traded price at the moment you actually click the order button. I was considering switching to them from Ninjatrader as i like their mobile app and i reallly dislike the way NT's program runs, but this issue is making the switch rather difficult as NT's bracket orders work as you'd expect by basing them off of the actual fill price.
The platform as a whole has been buggy for me in live and demo. Have you experienced the ghost order yet? Thats even worse than the bracket bug. Check out this screenshot: Tradovate - es 8_18_2022 11_40_37 PM
Oh! Something that may help; I have good computer systems and have run memtest to make sure my ram isn't to blame. I'm a hardware guy. You'd be surprised at the weird stuff slightly bad ram in the system or video card can do and it is a common problem on prebuilt systems.
Trying to be helpful but can't post in the forum I wanted because I had zero posts. So posted here in a relevant thread and was going to DM a link to the person but I need 10 posts to DM haha. Gotta make 2 more posts somewhere now.
