I am looking for software that can execute a systematic strategy through the Currenex API. The only software I have come across so far is Openquant which I have not tested. All suggestions welcome!

I use MC with PFG now, which works fairly well. My other 2 brokers use Currenex.

This is definitely possible.

bomberone1,

If you want have this you have 4 options either

1. Buy MC SDK data feed api $4999 + MC SDK order api $4999 = $9998 but u need to develop yourself for the connectivity -> faster but need learning curve to understand SDK

2. Pay MC to proceed Custom project to make this connection with a small fee $10,000 - fastest because u just sit and relax becoz MC do the development.

3. create yr own custom dll and make a connection then create indicator to plot the price into your chart -> need a lot of time to explore.

4. Put your request at MC's PM and vote .. but the request will only granted if they think it is worth it ..

Maybe u just contact them and see which is better for you.

Kami,
I spoke to MC and explained there was almost no off the shelf execution software that linked to Currenex, so it could be a good spot for them. They responded that they might create a link to Currenex but it is a long way off.

I've been in touch with Smartquant who assure me the link to Currenex is easy and stable, so I will learn C# and try that solution. A lifetime licence is 750 euros, and it does not have the constraint of only being able to execute to one named data stream in strategy. MC has this constraint, so it is very difficult to have a strategy that will execute a cross on the quoted price or by executed the legs of the cross, whichever is the better. I have the impression Smartquant will be able to do this.

Otherwise there is the Excel spreadsheet Currenex provides, I have no idea how robust it is.

Benster

They offer a reasonable price with the connectivity.

The platform look good but i never try it .. it is really look like protrader which is free to use and have also currenex connection.

I suggest u get a 30 days trial before u purchase whether it's worth it or not because the connection to currenex is via FIX protocol but not with Currenex API ... however it still better than mc that without that connection at all

For what it’s worth…
I looked at writing to Currenex several years ago and engaged with them in several in depth technical discussions. We never moved forward since there were some limitations with their API related to client to server applications like NinjaTrader. As an example, their API (at the time) was unable to provide order history. Thus, if you sent in a cancel request for a working limit order, you suddenly lost a connection, once your connection recovered you would have no way to know the state of the order you tried to cancel. Meaning, you would not know if the order was confirmed cancelled or if it was filled and you were in a position. This was one of several show stoppers for me.
