Dear NinjaTrader Users:

The following advisory has been sent out via the NinjaTrader application and has been posted in our forum but I thought I would also post it here in futures.io (formerly BMT). Please read the following advisory, especially those of you who trade CME markets. Let me know if you have any questions.

I have a question, I am not located near my trading server. Will I be able/need to enter my location ? ( Tag 142 )

Math. A gateway drug to reality.

In short, if the broker technology requires input from the user at client (NinjaTrader application) level then yes, you will be able to configure the location. This location (as I understand) is not the location of the box but the physical location of your person. Some broker technologies will send in this information based on your account profile set up at the FCM. I cannot tell you what broker technology will do what as our partners are still working to understand the requirements and how they will implement them. Nothing is set in stone at this time.

I am on 7.0.1000.2 and not the latest version 7.0.1000.4 because I am using a Windows 7 64-bit machine, connect via Zen-Fire, and am based outside of the US. My account is configured to use the non 64-bit API for Zen-Fire.

The reason is the issue on your forum subject 'NinjaTrader 7 Zen-Fire 64-bit Known Issue' thread 35278 (I may not post a link...).

As I am unable to use the latest version (presumably related to '3.X API' checkbox no longer existing in setup box for Zen-Fire account connections):

1) Are my assumptions wrong about the version that I'm using i.e. can I use the latest version?

2) Does this affect my ability to trade on CME after your updates are done; will you accomodate for this?

Thanks

1) In our latest 7.1000.4, all known 64-bit Zen-Fire issues have been resolved so yes you can use it.
2) No, this will not affect your ability to trade CME. There will be another NinjaTrader update between now and June 3rd that you will have to upgrade to should you wish to trade CME on Zen-Fire.

If my answers were not clear, let me know.

Why in your opinion is the CME doing this? More regulation?

I really don't have one however, in speaking with some of our technology partners that work directly with the CME, they say its a sign of what is coming...More transparency in the wake of the flash crash from last year.

This is about fee collection, IMO. See attached pdf I got yesterday from the CME
