Hi guys,

I am a trader who has began to look after managed accounts.

I am currently using Ninja Trader 7.3 which has a built in feature which allows you to place several accounts in one group.

The initial entries and ATM settings are executed to perfection.

The trouble comes when you want then edit the stop loss or profit target etc across the entire group, unfortunately the manual changes are reflected in one account only and not across the entire group. Meaning you have to make manual changes in each separate account.

I am looking for a better solution:

I would like to see one "master" account that was able to controll several other "slave" accounts that would copy all entries, ATM and manual modifications of the master account to the letter. Allowing me to in theory add an unlimited number of accounts and only have to trade with one account while seeing the exact same trades and modifications executed in all other accounts.

Is anyone managing multiply accounts out there with a solution for me? I love ninja trader but this does seem to be something that is a limitation for them and letting them down slightly, I am guessing this is going to mean moving away from ninja into another platform that can handle the multiple accounts!

Any help and advice would be great!

Best solution is to call your broker and have them set it up. You can tell them how to divide the subaccounts, like sub account #1 trades 1/2 the size, or so forth. All accounts would need to be with the same broker.

Hi mike,

There not all my accounts and are not all with the same broker. I am managing accounts for different people.

Do you still think I can do this broker side?? I was after more of a powerful order entry platform that would allow me to mirror the orders through the different accounts.

You really need to get everyone at the same brokerage in my opinion. You are going to have a nightmare of a time if anything happens.

Imagine another Sept 11 happens and you have to call 5 different brokers and get them to handle things....

Any broker can handle the issues of multiple linked accounts, but not sure as to what 'manual' issue you have with Ninja.

When I was trading live I was linking my retirement account (Solo 401K) with my business account with my personal account. It was interesting and worked nicely except when there was an issue! Figuring out what got where was a nightmare sometimes.

Is such a thing mentioned by the original poster possible at Velocity Futures? Would I be able to use NinjaTrader to manage my trades as if trading 1 account, but in reality, it is managing multiple accounts?

I contacted their support via chat, and the person I talked to didn't seem to think so, but it sounds like there is a posiblity that they could actually do it, but maybe the person I talked to was unaware of how it is done.

I'm a CTA handling managed accounts. You need to contact your broker and set up "block allocation trade" parameters for multiple accounts. Most brokers will do this, ...... you have to ask them by phone.

** What the hell does "trading apprentice" mean under my username? Cuz Im a virgin to this site?...LOL..too funny.

I just reviewed the block account allocation on OEC trader.

The software allows you to predetermine the number of lots for the different account.
Then it sets the total as your default for that market, and you see in real time how it is allocated.
Also, the stops and targets are set for the entire group of accounts.
You have a number of allocations methods:
APs (Average Price Fill)
Lowest account lowest price
Lowest account highest price
Highest account highest price
Highest account lowest price

This is suitable solution if you trade multiple accounts like IRA and Individual; you are a CTA or have a letter for authorization to trade OPM.

If you request a demo, then this feature has to be activated for you to be seen.

Thanks,
Matt
