I've been a fan of Avast for a long time, about 5 years now. While I personally don't use it anymore (I don't use anything beyond MSE), I do still recommend it to friends who are not gurus and may download crap they shouldn't.
From personal experience (one that is not a guru), Avast has always been good to me and my systems. I have not found any conflicts, even with the free versions. I also use Maleware Bytes and still no conflicts. And used system resources on my systems are, well not even visable.
MSE - I use to use that package, for quite some time - until the installer program started to "sputter" on me. Microsoft was aware of the issue and I suspect that it has been fixed for the none gurus (me) now, but I needed to move on before something did happen. Will have to look into it again.
Thanks for bringing this up on the forum. The wrong Anti Virus can create problems - Avast has been wonderful for me.
