One of the big issues I have always had with the way Ninja handles data is that we don't have access to the indicator on 'realtime' indicators until many bars have been received.
I know all of the recorders are available to capture this data but I have several issues with this:
1. My primary computer is a laptop.
2. My laptop is does not run 24/7 so recorded data is not continuous.
3. Because I am mobile, the data feed may drop out while on the interstate.
4. I'm sure I can think of several more reasons but you get the idea.
I've searched for other solutions other than recording the data.
Nothing has been available until just a week ago.
Richard Todd has created a new bar type in NinjaTrader 7 that uses something called Extended Data.
I don't pretend to understand it and until he showed this I did not even know it existed.
The realtime indicators designed for this bar type will load the history for the current session at startup.
This suits me fine since I really don't care about more than the current session but I am impatient and would like to see the realtime data NOW without having to let the charts run for an hour.
The indicators can be realtime or normal indicators but to show the current day data on the realtime bars some special coding has to be added to the indicator.
Here is a video from YouTube that he published.
