I got this from a Google Group of traders I follow. I thought the setup was pretty impressive. Here are the details to do it yourself too if you like.

=====================

Here are 2 picture. I have also included links that I used for my own research,

1. Youtube Video showing a Typical Eyefinity Setup,
YouTube - ATI's Radeon HD 5870 Eyefinity 6 Edition Graphics Card Can Run Six 1080p Monitors Simutaneously

2. Bill Donnelly's Video explaining Eyefinity Technology
YouTube - SAPPHIRE ATI Eyefinity set up with Bill Donnelly

3. Cooler Master HAF 922 Mid Tower Case. This has excellent cooling features and the Video Card and CPU are both Cooled using a seperate cooling unit.
YouTube - #1065 - Cooler Master HAF 922 Case Video Review

4. ATI Radeon HD 5870 Eyefinity 6 2GB Directx 11 Video Card. This Video shows 6 X Mini (Male) DisplayPort to Female Display Port Adapters, but the newer packages only come with 2 of these Adapters, I had to buy 4 Adapters explained below.

5. ASUS Rampage III Extreme.
I have 24 GB Memory on this
supports both SATA2 (6 GB Transfer)
USB 3.0
Intel i7 CPU @ 3.07 GHZ

6. MD3 Media Dashboard. I could not get the USB on the front panel working because the board only has 1 USD Head. But there are USB Ports behind the chassy.
YouTube - Ultra ULT40123 MD3 Media Dashboard

7. DELL P2411H (Read as P=Professioal, 24 = 24 Inch, 11 = 2011 (I Believe), H = Wide Screen probably). $229 right now, but they only sell 5 at this price. I flipped this monitor Potrait Mode and am not using the Eyefinity Setup. Just 6 displays. I need to buy stands to mount them in the Eyefinity Setup supported.

8. Since Brach mentioned it, here is the Power Supply I used for this (1000W Thermaltake)
Thermaltakeusa»Power Supply»Toughpower Series»Toughpower Cable Management 1000W PSU : Toughpower Cable Management 1000W PSU W0132RU

9. This card had Mini Display Ports. The Monitor MUST support Display Port Adapters or you can use 2 X Passive Mini DP to DVI-D Adapters and 4 X Active Mini-DP to DVI-D Adapters. This is very important. Read more about this before buying these DP Cards. DON'T GET DisplayPort to DVI-D Adapter (Passive) from DELL. They sold me 6 and I am going to RMA it monday. This will not work.
ACTIVE Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter. Fry's has this for $35 a piece.
ACCELL Cables - Audio, Video, Speaker, Computer Cables and Interconnects

10. Windows 7 64 Bit Professional. Ensign, TWS etc works. I will clone this into a backup Passport drive and then try other software. The ATI Video Driver was crashing while watching youtube Video, I had to change the Power Management Setting and it's ok now. Windows update rebooted the computer about 10 times before all updates were installed.I asked the vendor to give me the DVD Media for the OS.

I contacted Systemax, Systemax Inc. | Welcome to Systemax. Rebecca Marker was the one who worked with me over a month and we exchanged about 70 emails before finalizing this. Other system builders that I contacted online and thru recommendation were not helpful in helping me find a setup that would work for me. She also gave me the option to buy specalized products if needed and that they would include them into the system (if it is compatible of course). I opted for the 10K WD 300GB Drive, but it only support 3GB Transfer rate.

I also have a Wireless Card from RAlink I believe. Max 2mb download tested so far.

Total about $5500+

Add Intel's new Sandy Bridge i7 quad core processor to the lustful list...actually, at the astounding rate it handles RAW files it will be easy to build the necessary consensus to justify this household acquisition for you.

Hi, just a quick update, I bought 4 of those DELL P2411H monitors and I bought the ATI firepro 2460, 4 monitor card with passive cooling. I will put this into an older intel core 2 cpu pc I have here.

I was planning on buying/making a new computer with the new i7-2600k cpu but they are being set on hold because of some bug ?? They said delivery for this cpu will be in April 2011. Could be I still go with dell. I will try if 4 of those screens in portrait mode are enough for my trading.

The PC I'm making will have all the quiet stuff you can buy, so I end up with a super silent workstation. (special coolers etc..) I'm also planning instead of putting the SSD drive in it, I will chose for the PCI-e memory card like the OCZ RevoDrive x2. Way faster than the SSD !!!

I just got myself a hex output Eyefinity6. Costs a fraction of my NVS 440 and NVS 295. Newegg was having it sold at $279.99

Newegg.com - SAPPHIRE 100290SR Radeon HD 5870 (Cypress XT) 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Eyefinity 6 Edition Video Card

Both my NVS costs me close to $1000 then. The Firepro 2460 is $244.99.

I'll be dumping out these cards (Nvidia) soon. I'll post it up for sale as soon as I have my Eyefinity6 up. I think only traders would want this multi-monitor/real estate setup. Playing games on 3 monitors is not my way of getting productive work, not gonna kill more enemies on CoD.

Quiet is not in for me. Next to me is a dual quad core Xeon with 24GB RAM handling my automated trading accounts. The workstation I trade on is a dual hex core Xeon 20GB RAM.

I still work on my macs.

But I'm buying a windows PC with the new intel CPU for all my trading tools, I hope I don't regret it !!!

I just got the DELL monitors delivered and placed them in portrait mode, THAT ROCKS!!!

do you think the PC will be better in performance or do you want to be more flexible or whats the main reason ?
