Do you know of any highly successful trader whose strategy only revolve around getting 1 tick profit? Of course this mean he must trade high volume.

Is the idea of being profitable by having a tick profit target just an amateur idea?

Yes you can, but ask yourself a few questions.

Are you an equity member ? Can you afford and execution trader? Are you well capitalized ? Can you afford ORC? Can you afford TradingBlox ?

For most , the final answer is no.

Why is it that every new trader is looking for a strategy to make 1 tick?

I think most new traders come across that thought in the beginning, either on their own or planted by a vendor. Those that survive figure out the answer is "no". I guess actually so do the ones that blow up

If anyone can trade one tick for a living, I can guess Black Swan events as well:
