I trade through the NT V7.22, IB is my broker and the data feed I use is from Kinetick.
2 weeks ago i wanted to trade the Gold future GC 12-10 for the first time. I placed a market order which was filled, but I could not see the value at which it was filled ion the DOM.
I got real nervous immediately, and as I was not so familiar with the NT, I did not have the idea to look at the "positions" tab. Ok, silly me.Nevertheless I saw that I could not control the order with the DOM.
I called IAB at once, somehow I could close the trade with -$65 result. Nice that it wasnt -$650.
I reported this issue to NT and Kinetick. the Symbol at Kinetick is "QGC" which I was told earlier from them.
I got a feedback from NT which I am convinced that it is correct (I tested this again in the IB demo system, the first line of the answer relates to this)
"Thank you for reporting back. Since the issue recurs without being connect to Kinetick, it indicates Kinetick is not related. Yes, all is functioning as expected in NinjaTrader. You submit an order for the GC instrument to IB. However once the order executes, NinjaTrader receives the execution from IB that refers a different instrument 'QGC'. Because the execution lists 'QGC', NinjaTrader does not display a position for the 'GC' which is selected in the SuperDOM.
You will need to check with IB why they send an execution update for the QGC, while you submitted an order for the GC. When I search for QGC in TWS, I do not see any results.
The log lines below display you submit the order correctly
20.10.2010 14:56:29|1|32|Submitting order without strategy
20.10.2010 14:56:29|1|32|Order='0d61142b671e4894af7be88d3d9d4ff6/U907993' Name='' New state=PendingSubmitInstrument='GC 12-10' Action=Buy Limit price=0 Stop price=0 Quantity=1 Type=Market Filled=0 Fill price=0 Error=NoError Native error=''
However once the order is executed, NinjaTrader receives the following execution from IB.
20.10.2010 14:56:29|1|16|Execution='QGC 12-10/0000e9a5.4cbe2e60.01.01' Instrument='QGC 12-10' Account='U999999' Exchange=Nymex Price=1337,8 Quantity=1 Market position=Long Operation=Insert Order='1865512979' Time='20.10.2010 14:56:29'"
So again, I entered a position in GC but IB confirmed QGC. isnt that poor?
Ok, I contacted the IB support on 10/22 via an email to support@iab. nothing happened. I called them, they didnt understand it and recommened to send a message via the IB message center. I did so on 10/26, updated the ticket on the 29th and right now.
Nothing happens, noone of these guys answers me within 10 days. I am really very content with the NT support, but IB support is really poor obviously, I am angry. I will change to Mirus.
Does anyone of you guys have similar issues with trading GC 12-10 with IB/Kinetick? Maybe they want to wait with an answer til this contract expires, who knows.
I have just tested GC 12-10 on NT 7.0.0.23 with Interactive Brokers and Kinetick, and there were no problems.
Could you please check that you have only defined one instrument GC and not a second one, such as QGC. Also check that GC has the correct symbol settings, that is
GC for Interactive Brokers
QGC for Kinetick
I suspect that you have defined two different instruments, GC and QGC, and then both linked to the same Interactive Brokers instrument via symbol mapping. So you open a position in GC, which is symbol mode GC for Interactive Brokers, and the Interactive Brokers returns the symbol GC, which is now translated to instrument QGC. Of course, I do not know this and there can be other reasons or a real bug. If ouy have created a second instrument QGC, you need to delete it.
But again, I tested GC 12-10 and here it is working fine. Order was executed. Positions was displayed on chart and DOM. Position was correctly closed. Trace file only showed instrument GC.
True, there is an instrument QGC and one GC and this is the reason for this error. Not the 1st user error here, but I was asking NT, Kinetick and IB. NT and Kinetick answered me at least.
Many thanks and congratulations for winning the competition and the monitor. May it make u see what was hidden for your eyes up till now
