I have switched to trading only CL. I used to trade ES and 6B but not any more.

When trading your primary instrument, what else do you look at? For instance, I consider opening price of the pit vs yesterday's close. I have found that CL will make a move towards closing the gap, and the vast majority of the time it will go at least to half gap closure. If ES has a gap of more than 10 points at 9am, I don't look for CL to go as far as the half gap line (it seems those are the Gap and Go days) . On those days, YM has about a 100 point gap then. So if I see a large ES gap, I am less inclined to look for a gap play on CL.

During the trading day, I keep an eye on ES, YM, and BANK. They are not primary factors for me, but I use them just for hints.

Do any of you have any items (other than chart indicators) that you use to aid your trading?

I am looking at EURUSD. The quote currency of CL is USD. If the USD falls, CL should rise. The natural instrument to watch would be DX, but I prefer EURUSD.

Also look at the overnight range, yesterday's midpoint, pivot and three day balance point to determine whether the price action is bullish or bearish.
