So recently, I have been taking my skills from trading and applying them to the game of poker that way I can diversify my skillset and be making money from different things. I also learned quite a bit about sports betting before I ever got into trading. So I kind of rotate between futures trading, poker, and sports betting and just exploiting the best opportunity edges in all three.

Now that I have really gone into depth in all three types of risk taking ventures, and understanding the skillsets are nearly exactly the same in Poker, Sports, and Trading, just with slight variations, I am struggling to find the correct word in my head for what that specific skill exactly is.

For example, someone who works with patients to treat health conditions is a doctor, someone who works with source material and studies different types of data is a researcher,

So for someone who researches and discovers, statistically exploitable edges, and does that as their profession, what is that person called?

Like if someone were to ask you, "What do you do for a living?", to respond "Trade futures, bet on sports, and play poker" is kinda redundant since we are really just seeking out asymmetric risk/reward opportunities in all three. The other thing is that sports betting and playing poker aren't really looked at as a legitamate ways of making money if your a normie type person, and all you know about someone is that they make their money "gambling".

The main thing is though, I am super curious if a word exists for this type of person? Someone who makes their living off of applying statistical edges, but that isn't just a trader?

Professional Gambler.....the word professional implies that you make money at it.....as far as trading is concerned.....Futures Trader...or you could just say Mathematician and that covers everything...ah...another thought....Opportunist.....or depending on the size of the wager....High Roller....
