Does anyone have any pointers or thoughts on end of the session trading? Currently I day trade stocks. And I find my worst trades are usually in the last hour or so of the NY market. This is partially because I may be tired. But it is also because I don’t have a good sense of end of the day action

When a stock gaps or moves on the open it is either going to continue or not. And if a stock that has been moving pulls back and retraces at some point during the day it is either going to break back up and continue to make new highs or it is not. These are basic trading situations that are pretty easy to read. You just follow your rules and execute

But I feel that I don’t really always understand the action at the end of the day. As in is an attempted breakout going to fail or succeed. Or are we likely to revert to mean before close. Will shorts be closing their positions? I just do not read it very well. And I was just wondering if anyone here had any thoughts or insights.

Thanks

Dumb question - why not just stop trading the last hour - since it is costing you money? Maybe focus/size more in situations and times where you are doing well.

Ending early is my current plan. But I also saw it as something I could learn and understand better.

I had forgotten this thread. It is certainly relevant to me.

Thanks.
