I'm curious who uses win rate% to monitor their trading particularly if you scale in or out.
If this is an important metric to you, how do you define a "trade" to know whether or not is a "win"? Do you average entry and exit price?
I don't typically scale currently, but I'm writing an addon for NT and defining "trade" is at the core of it. Allowing for the possibility that I will use scaling in my trades, I would like to have a looser, more generic definition that allows for that in the future.
While I do not use scaling in or out, NT (and I believe most other platforms) calculate win rate % based on how order confirmations are returned from the exchange which will divide large orders during the matching of orders, in effect breaking up what I would define as a "trade" into multiple trades.
I think win rate is the obvious choice for monitoring my probability for success. If you use some other metric for that purpose, what do you use?
