NT8 Indicator to obtain the average movement an instrument has had during the last n days (maybe based in the ATR)
Well, knowing the ATR (Average True Range) already in itself calculates an average, is there any indicator or way to see graphically (or numerically) the Average of the ATR during a specific period of time?
What I need is to know the average of the ATR itself during the selected period of days (n selected days).
For example, a way or a NinjaTrader 8 indicator where you select period = 3, and the indicator calculates the average of the ATR for the last 3 Trading days, maybe in a sub-chart showing the average, maybe in a similar way as in the attached picture here (picture just for illustration to have an idea), or maybe the indicator could be plotted in a more adequate way like the SMA or EMA but instead to be applied to the instrument chart, to be applied to the ATR indicator itself.
What I specifically need is to know the average in points/ticks movement an instrument (a future like the ES or NQ) has had during the last n days, and I’ve been thinking the ATR (its average) could show that value I need, but maybe someone here could show me others ways to be able to see this value I need with others tools. I was thinking to just take the average of some peaks in the ATR chart for the desired n days but I think that it doesn’t represent the average of points/ticks movement during those selected days.
