Hi there,
Was just wondering if anyone has any experience using Prorealtime charts/price ladder and data feed to trade US futures (or any futures!).
To explain, prorealtime (PRT) have their own datafeed and use IB as their broker to place orders.
I'm aware that IB is pretty bad for data feed/placing orders but this set up appears to be similar to that employed by TT. Just like TT, PRT uses it's own data feed to connect to the exchange (so I won't be using IB's tech) and you just use whoever as a broker. I used to use TT via a big clearer.
So does anyone have any experience trading futures with PRT and using IB?

Many thanks in advance.
Keab

Yes.

Lol
I liked the platform and had not much to do with IB (they refuse to answer any questions, even account related. The guy at PRT was very helpful. I did however change to use one broker. I may get an"spare account" there when I make more money than my current"money holder" have a guarantee for. (American companies have such guarantee up to 200 k or something doesn't they?)

So I were very satisfied, and I am pretty sure it is a good idea to have multiple accounts with different data streams when you have one with the size you are happy with. (Not like it getting any interest(atleast for a while). So if something break down, you have both a extra account and stream. I found the stream impeccable btw.

They require some margin, but not too much, but you will need at least 15k to trade a mini contract. Prices 6€ round trip but 1 bonus € so you will end up with alot of free data and the"advanced" platform with just a few trades each day.

BTW
No matter what experience you have with IB, as I know, they have maybe the widest range of "base" currency. I know I had Norwegian Krone there (unfortunately, I moved the money at a very unfortunate time to Euro But I bet you still can have account in £ and it is always nice to have no exchangefee (not sure how it works, when exchange back as you make a $ account if trading US or € if trading dax.

I am aware this thread is quite old.
I have am IB trading account and I use the ProRealTime platform with PRT own datafeed. I confirm PRT quality data is rather good.

Recently PRT has made public the v12 BETA of the platform, with several improvements and some new tools. I believe they did quite a good work.
As a former programmer and an intuitive sw user I have adopted the v12 BETA since the release (the v11 is still available; the v12 is still in BETA testing) and I have noticed them several bugs and issues.
The developing team seems quite prompt at fixing issues, though they sometimes have difficulties to understand complex problems (e.g. it took me several weeks to have backtesting results corrected) or to "catch" the benefits of new proposals or requests for changes. Overall I believe they should set a programme with official beta testers (as far as I know they just wait for customers willing to spend time to write to them with detailed explaination of how/when/why a bug shows up, charts and images and so on) communicating/meeting with them on regular basis. I also believe an internal team improving the interaction between sw developers and the sales/marketing office would deliver good resuslts. Consider that their forum is a combination of messages in French, English, Italian and German and though I communicate with them in any of the first three languages I have mentioned, I have noticed that sometimes the flow of subsequent messages is done in a language that is different from the initial one.

According to my opionion/experience there are still things PRT should do:
1) make settings more frendly and intuitive: as of today it's a seek&hide annoying task to find the sub-sub-sub menu for changing the setup of charts or tables.
2) improve link with customers for small changes, sometimes even correcting misspell or funny/odd translation (the platform is available in different languages).
3) improve experience usability with shortcuts: today there are shortcuts that just do what you can do in-one-click-only and lack shortcuts for a streak of three or four clicks in different areas of the screens.
4) transfer to the regular platform all featurs that are in the Premium account only: the regular platform is not cheap, though platform fees and data fees may be waived with an active trading activity; the Premium version of the platform is absurdly expensive, though most tools are offered free by other platforms.
Once they improve further, PRT may seriously compete with top-market platforms.
