I am new to trading futures. I am planning on using jigsaw based upon the feedback people give on the education. I also want to learn more about TPO and Vol profile but it seems that it is not possible to chart both TPO and Vol Profile simultaneously using jigsaw. Does any one know why this is the case? how do people get around this? and where can I look for good education around using TPO and Vol Profile?

thanks all

S

Axia Futures have numerous videos on Youtube concerning profiles. Also a MP course that can be purchased (which I haven't).

You can get profile software with the Tradovate brokerage package or Sierrachart. I'm sure theres other sources also..

Thanks. I will look at axia futures! I was looking at trade with trend on YouTube. He has some very clear info on market profile

I think what I was thinking in relation to jigsaw was - why do they not allow for market profile and volume profile simultaneously? Seems strange as market profile and volume profile are always used together.... is it because they use the heat map with ice bergs? And that essentially does the same thing?

I like Jigsaw and the DOM and Reconstructed Tape are excellent but their charts are only just coming out of Beta. I also like Market profile charts, tried the Jigsaw ones and they were rubbish.
If you are considering a broker think about Tradovate like Ragic said, because they have very good Market profile charts where you can include volume profile if you wish, and you can also use the Tradovate login details with Jigsaw Daytradr so have both platforms open at the same time, if you want to use the Jigsaw DOM, or Vista too.
I would certainly put Tradovate platform on your shortlist and try a demo of it.

You do not win as a trader, you just get to play again the next day. If that game doesn’t appeal to you then you should not trade. Gary Norden

What do you think about the footprints on jigsaw?

It seems there are only time based footprints. No pnf footprints.

Do you see that as a problem? I have actually never used pnf before but it seems to be what people use in futures. I have always used candle sticks previously.

Personally I don't like Footprint charts so don't use them.
Jigsaw is the same as Tradovate and a lot of other platforms in that they have Point n Figure charts as a chart type but not a time frame option. So you can have a PnF chart or a Footprint chart but not a Footprint chart using PnF.
You could with Market Delta, but they aren't around anymore.
Maybe you can with InvestorRT now that MD is gone. Or Sierra Charts which I understand has a steep learning curve but people who like it always seem to say it can do everything.

Yes you can do it on Sierra but Yes like you say. As I’m new and don’t really know what I’m looking for, developing a trading system and learning Sierra is a bit much for me right now I think

Also I don’t really see benefit of pnf, except for that it plots price on a directional bar with less noise than a candle stick.

I’ve not used the footprint matrix thing that you referenced that comes with jigsaw so maybe I’ll find that useful.

Out of interest, what do you use?
