Question: What should my timeframe be for my TPO chart if I'm trading MES during normal hours?

The Volume profile is unaffected by the evening if I limit the TPO to 830-1600 they are practically in sync. For instance this last week. With the TPO set to cover a 24hr trading period, night hours form their own low volume bell curve that I feel like skews the whole day. Any input would be appreciated, Thanks!

No expert here, but by definition they are set at 1/2 hour increments. I set my day time for 9:30 am to 3:59:59 -- I put the last 15 minutes into the separate night TPO (I don't trade the last 15).

Not sure about your data feed, but your 8:30--1600 should be to 15:59:59 or you'll pick up extra data.

Look forward to seeing informed responses.

I misspoke, my time frame is 0830-1500 (CST) and is graphed with 30 minute increments.

I will definitely cut the time back before close, that is not something I had not thought about.

I'm using the MzPack for NT8. Its been a challenge learning the software but today I learned how to set this.

Thank you for taking the time to help. I'm fairly fresh on here but am dedicated to the cause.

I haven't used MzPack and aren't using Ninjatrader so the picture is a Tradovate TPO chart.

For me I have the Regional Trading Hours of 9:30am - 4:15pm ET (8:30am - 3:15pm CT). The stock market close is 4pm ET but as the futures trade another 15mins and then halts I include that extra half hour period as well. That is the orange profile starting with A and B periods in green as the first hour IB and then ending with the N period which is the 4:00 - 4:15 period.

I also have the overnight period in blue which shows me what has been going on prior to the open. Having the RTH and overnight automatically split means the overnight part isn't skewing a single bar profile for a day period, and means I have Value Areas and POCs for the high volume RTH session. Just my personal preference.

You do not win as a trader, you just get to play again the next day. If that game doesn’t appeal to you then you should not trade. Gary Norden

most of the people will use TPO with 30 minutes timeframe, you can chose the timeframe you want and customize the TPO profile as much as you want, the most important thing is that you find your own way to get an understanding of the market through TPO profiles.
Volume profile should match exactly the TPO profile, there is no difference a part from the fact that one is showing volume while the other is using "time". Of course VPOC and POC will not normally coincide exactly.

In case you split TPO profile between overnight market and pit session, make sure you also split the volume profile otherwise the picture you get will be inconsistent.
