I just got noticed by Ninja Trader Brokerage that CME Exchange Fees for Micro E-Mini contracts will increase by at least $0.10 RT effective February 1st:

The CME Group has announced exchange fee increases for select products effective February 1st, 2021. This includes Micro E-Mini Index futures which will be increasing $.05 per contract.

Futures costs going up while stocks give free data and commissions. At some point SPY and QQQ become more attractive to trade though most people trading micros may not be able to get around PDT rules.

The CME frankly doesn't care about retail.

Whether or not it proves to be a mistake will be determined by competition, if it can be created or if what is out there implodes and fails to make a dent...

And Gold micro has jumped .20 (~60%) per side.

If the trade-off is a little less opportunity for some of the extreme scalping and arb. algos, I'll be ok with it.
