Hello and happy new year,
I am looking for a broker that would give me the possibility to operate on the Italian stock market, but using my indicators and directly using multicharts for the graphic analysis
can you help me?
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
Quindi ti rispondo in inglese così tutti capiscono.
[Translation: it's not admitted to write in Italian in the site, but I think there is an Italian subforum, thus I will reply in English ]
I cannot answer directly about Interactive Brokers with Multichart because I never used multichart. I just installed it one day and I realized that it did not match my requirement. For what I remember you can trade directly from Multichart as in any other platform.
However I can tell the problems that I encountered using Interactive brokers in the past.
When I first began trading I was using ProRealtime, it's not well known in the US but they have a big market in France, Spain and Italy. Prorealtime allowed me to trade futures and stocks with Interactive Brokers. My experience is that the datafeed was not very stable, there were several glitches and in periods of high volatility the platform freezed. I cannot say that the datafeed was really bad, but for sure it was nothing comparable to the solutions that I tried years later.
As a disclaimer this was 2016 so maybe now they are a lot better.
I don't know if this was due to the platform or to Interactive Brokers, since ProRealTime offered a pre-built solution I cannot even say which datafeed Prorealtime offered (normally they do not tell this things) but I think it was Interactive Broker's datafeed.
What I have seen, reading blogs and forums, is that a lot of people have complaints about Interactive Brokers datafeed, and most of the Interactive Broker users they build their own custom solution.
For example if you need to use Multicharts you can probably use IQfeed which is a very reliable datafeed and Interactive Brokers as FCM.
If you are a systematic trader I think this is also the solution that Andrea Unger uses. I am not one of his students and I don't know him at all but I think he mentioned this solution somewhere.
Hi all, I think that using the new introducing broker for IB which is MEXEM, some of the issues related to assistance have been improved. Also the account opening process should be simplified. Not a customer yet, but I am planning to.
About the datafeed, it is generally known that IB one is not the best. As already said, IQFeed is very good (but also expensive), otherwise a very good and low cost solution is using Tradestation Global account: with a minimal deposit, you have US future markets and adding other countries is feasible and not too expensive.
so in MC you can used TradeStation as datafeed and IB as broker.
