I was charting Equities futures and suddenly there was the 300point drop (on DJAI) in last hour of trading 8/11.

So looking around at the time, I see some news....Was it due to Big 10 cancelling fall football? Some bad vaccine news?

Saw afterward :

The S&P 500 finished the session 1.5% from its Feb. 19 closing high. The last-hour downturn for the Dow and S&P 500 came as Thomas Barkin, chief of one of 12 regional branches of the central bank, sounded an alarm at a "digital town hall" held on Tuesday by the Center for Regional Economic Competitiveness. Barkin said a recession of "historic proportions" could take another turn for the worse if a stalemated Congress fails to provide more financial aid to beleaguered workers and businesses.

I don't want to watch CNBC, but where would this kind of news get released, in minute by minute releases? I know Marketwatch has a small new ticker in the upper right, but it didn't include this info.

Thanks in advance.

What you probably want is a squawk service. They tend to provide real time news most relevant to traders.

Talking Forex used to be good and cheap but I think they decommissioned that months ago. There are similar services reviewed here on FIO (just put 'squawk' on the search box and click on search).

Thanks. I had a live squawk of floor noise years ago. I had searched for ticker and didn't find much, but under squawk found a few 'news' options.

Do you mean their RSS feed or something else?

They seem to offer an alternative for talking-forex in the blue box now, for me there is no squawk yet although being "connected" when clicking "voice squawk". https://www.zerohedge.com

the squawk you are talking (and you can see on the zerohedge page) about is from FinancialJuice.com

I would recommend LiveSquawk Twitter Account for news and investing.com for data releases.
