Well, these days I am an algo trader, so it is less of an issue. But I go by George Kleinman's advice: never trade sick or tired. These days, I will not make any sort of important decision regarding trading if I am under the weather.

I would not trade while impaired, no matter what the cause. I have enough to deal with when I'm not impaired.

Also, I would get whatever is going on with you checked out with a doctor. Not to be alarmist, but there is something going around now that should not be ignored.

If that is not the problem, as I hope it is not, it still is a good idea to get some medical attention. And whether you do or do not, I would not add another burden to my trading if I were you. Trade when you are in better shape to do it.

But find out what's going on. You need to know this.

I use to occasionally trade when I got migraines ( use to get them 10+ times a month) and it never worked out always lost lots of money, it sucks to miss a good day buy it also sucks to lose a shit ton of money because you cant step away for a day.

I agree with you. It's very hard to concentrate on profitable and adequate trading while you're in pain or in distress. So personally, when I feel bad - I don't even start trading that day, because I know that the results will be bad.

I trade unwell all the time, and have found it has little impact on my return.

This might depend on your strategy, but for my strategy having a headache because I'm hung over or runny nose from a cold does not impact my entries and exits.

If trading unwell stopped institutional traders, the blow fueled bull markets of the 80s and 90s may have never happened. Winning streaks increase our testosterone and prolonged losing streaks increase cortisol. No matter how good you think you feel, you're always under some kind of influence.

I think using feeling unwell to explain away losing days and bad trades is just another excuse we tell ourselves.

Everything depends on your mood and how you feel, if you really feel normal - then why not? And good luck to you, but if you're not feeling well or tired, take a break right away. You have to act with pure intelligence in the market.

I think that's a bad idea.
The market always provides opportunities for profit. So if you miss a few trading days, you won't miss anything.
