I have noticed erradict data flow on the charts of which all of a sudden there is a rapid movement of bars or candlesticks, then it will almost stop. I have also noticed stop losses getting passed over and stop orders not getting placed. I am scalping. Wondering if TOS is the right platform, or I am just having too high of expectations and should limit trades to slower market action. Would appreciate any input on this issue.
There's a few things that can be causing this. The most likely scenario is that TOS gets bogged down when markets are very active and there are a lot of users logging in to trade. The TOS platform is not futures specific (so they have tons of data to process from a large number of exchanges) and they have quite a bit of users. Heavy traffic could be the culprit. The other thing may be your computer. If TOS is maxing out your CPU or Memory you could experience similar issues.
Stops getting passed over or not being placed at all isn't good. If you are an active futures scalper you are probably better off working with a futures specific broker and platform. The issues you describe are rare at best with data feeds like CQG and Rithmic.
