I've posted in a previous journal here at FIO during a time of my trading "career" where I really had no idea what I was doing. You can find the journal here (. I traded the Nikkei during the evenings and wasn't able to trade the RTH session for the ES. Today, I am fortunate enough to be able to trade the ES/MES during the day with my current job. The MHI (HSI mini) is more of an experimental instrument that I am learning how to tackle at the moment so any trades/charts shared will likely all be from SIM.
My background:
Played poker professionally for about 6 years prior to my time in finance.
Worked within financial services for several years. Worked for one of the largest banks in the US.
Currently, in the business lending industry selling unsecured loans to small/mid sized businesses.
My Trading Strategy:
Currently, I trade MES live. For now, I'm only going to touch on my MES strategy as MHI is still a work in progress in developing a profitable strategy.
My MES strategy is fairly simple and can easily be found here on FIO. It revolves around VWAP and setups that present itself within the context of the day. I have to say, a very helpful, knowledgeable member shared this strategy to everyone and I have been so grateful for him. I won't tag him for now as I don't want to bother him. I have been trying to find my way and develop my plan to attack each trading day. It's been a struggle. I started with a fully discretionary style trying to follow the flow and follow my "gut." The market will eat your "gut" alive and I was failing. When I read this thread, it presented a way to trade that is very systematic. If condition A,B,C are all met then you take a specific trade if the setup presents itself. It created rules for me to follow, which I needed. You can find the thread here (. I must have read through this about 2-3 times already.
I've gone into SIM, then live, then SIM, then back to live testing this VWAP strategy and I'm seeing the results and potential. I'm still dialing it all in and learning but I truly believe this can be a very profitable strategy that has great potential.
Journal Structure:
My goal is to share how my trading day went and explain the thought processes behind each trade. I will do my best to share screenshots of each trade and tally my P/L for the session.
When I reflect back on what I did wrong I will do my best to write it out and explain to myself what happened and more importantly, what I don't need to do again.
At times, I will also be sharing my MHI journey in developing a strategy that works - that will be interesting.
I welcome all feedback. Without this community I would be so lost. I am very happy to hear your thoughts, opinions, suggestions, directions and advice that any and all of you may want to share.
