All,

I am a programmer who was recently introduced to coding indicators

I am used to displaying data and receiving input from a user via a user input tool such as a message box.

My question is, is there such a tool when coding indicators? I would like to ask the user questions to gather the data and use it in a program but need to know the syntax of an input box.

Thank you in advance!

I am not a programmer, but I remember reading somewhere that this is accomplished using regular c# code in the ninjascript.

a friend told me that what I am looking to do would probably require c# (which is no problem) therefore does anyone have any c# source code that I could look at to get an idea of how to gather user input via a dialog box?

conversely, could someone provide a link to a viable code source for NinjaScript?

any help is most appreciated

NinjaScript Help in NT7 is under the Help Menu item on the control panel.
There is an entire section for NinjaScript.

You can also go to the NT Web support site and get an online version.

Umaniac have you actually tried Ninja Trader? Open a chart, apply an indicator to a chart, and you will be prompted with the "user input box".

You can look at the indicator's code with Tools>Edit NinjaScript>Indicators.

NinjaScript is C#. NinjaTrader 7 is a dot net 3.5 win forms app.

You can add win forms objects such as a dialog box but for most things it is unnecessary.
