As a suggestion, when a member shares a indicator in the "Download Indicators / File Sharing" section, can the indicator be put into an alphabetical order system? Presently, when a member attempts to search for an indicator in the above section, they may need to search through the listed indicators which can be frustrating. If the indicators were placed in alphabetical order by name, the search can save a lot of time.
Second suggestion, I noticed several indicators are moved to the "Elite Section" and members do not have any knowledge of same unless it's posted that they are located in above location. Can you also list the name of the indicator in the "Download Indicators / File Sharing" section and have it noted that the listed indicator can be located in the "Elite Section"?.
These suggestions will cut down on search time and also cut down on postings requesting location of indicators.
For #1, there is already an alphabetical sort option at the top of each download listing page. It is above the page navigation, perhaps you missed it.
For #2, sorry but Elite indicators are completely hidden. There is no demo, no trial, no sneak peak, nothing. If you want to support the site, then donate and become an Elite Member, and with that membership you get access to a lot of exclusive content shared by other Elite Members. It is up to you.
Here! Here! I agree. Also, can we please stop posting indicators like this:
MyFavoriteIndicator, but once imported, it shows up in the indicator list as ZtqvJune2009SVC. What the he** does that mean? It's meaningless, unless I am familiar with the June 2009 issue of SVC Magazine, which I am not.
DynamicFibLines is another example. That's how it's listed in the download section, but once imported, it appears in the indicator list as "MyDynamicPivots". I hunted & hunted & hunted for DynamicFibLines and finally had to open the FOLDER & sort by DATE to see what I had just imported. Well, what is it? Pivots or Fib lines? And why the discrepancy between the description and its actual name.
And can we PLEASE stop putting "spaces" and "underscores" before the indicator names. I must admit, I have been guilty, too, for posting 'enhanced' versions of indicators, but only because the original started with " " or "_". I have since tried to rename such indicators prior to posting.
We should adopt some naming conventions that we can all stick to.\
Sorry for the rant. Too little sleep last night & I did "stupid" again today & lost $1200 Real $. I know, I should and DO know better. I don't know what got into me. I recognized I wasn't in the "zone", but proceeded to trade live anyway. Still positive for the month, though. Tomorrow's another day.
After all, it's what you learn AFTER you know it all, that counts!
You should always open the source and view it - the name will be at the top, but more importantly view the code so you can understand it and also make sure you know what it is doing.
I agree, finding indicators is not very intuitive. Instead of the Filter drop down menu why not a text box where we could enter our own key words or why does the generic search feature does not scan the indicators repositery ? When someone upload a new indicator why not forcing him to put it into a given category like oscillators, band drawing, S/R, etc.
We're working on a new download system, it will address some of your issues but has been a very long process (working on it almost six months now). The author of the current system passed away and stopped making updates to it, so we've designed our own but it has taken a lot of time.
