Hey.
Whats the deal with this platform.
Its freezing so bad i have no words for it. At the open its horrible. It could be few minutes when charts are moving but times and sales, matrix, level 2 is frozen. High volume stocks can freeze it too. Any solution for that? I added some indicators to it and i feel like it got even worse. Its truly.one of the worst platforms to trade smoothly.
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
Sorry I can't help directly because I don't use Tradestation - however I use FIO quite extensively and I don't recall many people complaining about its performance.
A couple of thoughts
Could it be something to do with your machine rather than your Tradestation install?
If not, have you approached Tradestation support for help?
Its not my pc or anything. Its platform itself. Now i cant trade for 30 mins already because of lags. Its pure insanity. And many other people have same issue. Even typing a ticker or zooming chart is laggy af.
I have the same problem.o me crazy.tradestation platform can’t handle an active stock on the matrix during the first and last 30 mins. .i know nothing about computers and it seems like nobody at tradestion knows either.i spent 30 hours with tech suport. I email mike Burke constantly.i hope you will do the same.i taught of buying a new 3000 dollar computer but found that a new high powered computer would perform worst.this is what I learned TradeStation devides 100 cpu by your logical processes .my example I have a 6core hyper thread equals 12 processes /into 100 allows 8 CPU’s per process . When you reach 8 CPU’s in anyone of theprocesss you will freeze. Test this out when you think you are going to freeze put an inactive symbol in to the matrix .the platform will run perfect.put the spy symbol in and you freeze.you can try going into your bio so settings and reduce you cores to 4.you should also go into file >preferences>desktop>performance and reduce there settings.keep experimenting as I am still doing.but complain to mike Burke may enough complaints will make them fix it. The
Only other solution I think might work for level two is another TradeStation platform on another computer or laptop.so you will have one for radar screen ,and charts and one for the matrix. first time on this forum my user name is wonderhorse you can contact me at [email protected].
I know it's been a year, but I am trying to see if TradeStation has made any attempts to fix this seemingly unresolvable problem. Has anyone had any tips or tricks that have fixed the opening freezes? I have been using it for nearly 6 months, and I have been caught in 2 opening bell situations where I had 10,000 share positions that I couldn't sell within the first 45-50 seconds as the entire platform simply quit responding.
I found that my keystrokes were actually sending to the server and executing, but without the L2, tape and charts, my timing was useless. I lost nearly $5,000 so far, and I have decided to not trade the opening bell anymore until I can either fix the issues or jump ship. If anyone has found anything that would help knowing this is still an issue in July 2021, I would be grateful.
Meant to say that their customer service is still not better either. My emails rarely get a response, and when they do, they are so late it makes no difference.
1) Preferences-Networking- Streaming Data Optimization- MOVE Setting in slider to High. (This limits the data stream (removes individual tick info) so as not to jam up the buffer) Then: Preference- Desktop -Performance - /Choose Compatibility Button. This limits the use of processing cores (short explanation, too many core no good for trade station???) These settings have made the difference for me.
Also if you have newer CPU and it doesnt help buy used 3570k, 5820k or 6700k. It all comes down to settings or cpu itself. Before i applied this settings i was freezing on 3570k and 5820k. Now im not. Even usage of cores dropped by 30-40% on each core lol. Friend has 6700k running smoothly with those settings. Btw i use ts 9.5
Cheers.
OMG...if this works Tuesday, I will owe you a pint of your favorite draught! It truly sounds like you have a decent solution to this persnickety problem. The first time it happened, I lost over $2,000. I sent customer service several messages but didn't get a reply for almost two weeks. The next time it happened, I actually came up with a small win of about $300, The last time I lost nearly $5,000 (this past Friday). That is when I decided to Google the issue to see if the wonderful community had figured this out.
I will share my experiences with you once I get to try them out. I sincerely appreciate you watching this post and adding this response...I can see light at the end of the tunnel, and hopefully won't have to ask my wife for a bigger allowance.
Well I had notification to my email. I Wouldn't know otherwise.
Its hard to get knowledgeable people in TS. Actually someone i know came across someone who knew about ts freezing issuew and this was his solution. You can also play with other settings there if it doesnt improve.
Also using hwmonitor software.make sure your cpu is not overheating at the open. You can google your cpu and aee whats the max temp for it and if u are reaching that at the open. This is causing freezing too. Make sure you have good cooler. If temperatures are not problem also overclocking helps. Try to see if you are able to squeeze more outof your cpu.
