Let's share our ATM strategies, and discuss the pros/cons.

What I like?
-Once 8 ticks of profit is hit, the remaining bet becomes "free".

What I don't like
-Can't find a good place for the 2nd profit target and trailing stop loss.

Can anyone who has already tried a similar ATM tell me why I'm wasting my time and won't do better than breakeven at best?
Feels like for the 2nd profit target it would be better to not have a hard target and instead leave it open and "feel" the market instead... of course everything works in highsight but feels like in live trading it is the opposite.

What do you look for when to close before ATM target?

very interesting post planetkill, schocked to see that there is no responses yet on this! I am a newbie but also think having a 2 order strategy with a 'scalping bet' and a 'runner' should be a good thing to have. I haven't used my strategy extensively yet but it is like the following.
6 ticks (1.5points) for the scalping and 28 ticks(7 points) for the runner.

I agree with your feel the market idea...
I'd say that for the runner if I see that the market is moving quite slow and see something like double top and the candles starting to come back significantly or any other strong indication that the market might reverse then I would be satisfied with reduced gain and close the position. Another thing I have seen from other traders is that once they see the price going close to their target on the runner they would place the stop loss just above their opening to at least secure break even. I have done this sometimes even move the stop loss to 4 or 6 ticks to ensure a good profit for the runner.
