I know I closed a losing SIM trade before the market hit my stop and it closed at a price the market never traded at. I sent NT an email about it and they took no responsibility for it. They are claiming that the market traded there, but my charts do not confirm that. I was not pleased with their reply.

I am back to trading LIVE again. If this happens on my live account I will pursue the issue further.

Cheers

thanks for responding itrade2win; this issue
means that it is very difficult to assess your true performance
using nt tools; this is a long standing problem i wish they would
find a solution for

It is very difficult to simulate slippage. I have a real and a simulation account with Interactive Brokers, and these two behave in a different way. Simulation performance will only vaguely approach real performance.

Missing Feedback

Real trading affects the bid/ask balance and changes it. SIM trading does not have an impact on the real market, so the results are not real. SIM performance can only be similar - but not equal - to real market performance, if you select a very liquid market (ES, FESX, ZB) and if you do not trade size.

thank you fat tails
but this has nothing to do with slippage - not when the market is not moving quickly
and there is a difference of 20 pips between reality and what is recorded in demo results

I have had the same experience. CME does not have market orders, but has protected market orders. This means that each market order is converted to the order type stop limit with the offset as defined by the no-bust-range. It is well possible that the simulation programm takes this into account and throws in an occasional fill at the offset.

Again I have had this experience quite often with my Interactive Brokers simulation account, and this is not related to NinjaTrader.

I think you can avoid it, if you select stop limit as default order type and enter a different offset into the DOM field.

I recently had my Live trades showing incorrect P&L when open (about 20 ticks better that the actual position). Ninja support correctly identified a fix as follows (NT 6.5) :

Quoting
jtrade,
Thanks - can you please disconnect and try repairing the DB via Tools > Options > Misc?
Then reconnect and recheck the avg price you get displayed, in NT7 it will come directly from the ZenFire adapter, whereas 6.5 it comes directly from the database on your PC.
