Hi-

I'm having trouble properly viewing drawings made on say a 5year daily or weekly chart if I look at 365 days worth of minute data. It seems that if you use a drawing such as trend channel or extended line and the anchor points for the drawing are not in the current date range the drawing will not draw properly. For example on a weekly chart draw an extended line with anchor points in 2017 and 2019 and then look at the same symbol on a 60min chart with 365 days of data & the extended line will not draw accurately.

Is there an easy workaround for this other than make sure the lower timeframe chart extends back to include the anchor points? On the 5year daily I can manually draw a new line on top of the old line that has recent anchor points but this is hard to do in a manner that ends up with the identical line.

Thank you,
Zach

First at all, welcome at futures.io

You should post which platform and which instrument you are talking.

If you are talking about futures, you know that there are roll-overs, that may be the reason you cannot see the same lines on a shorter time-frame (in this case you have to use "not back-adjusted" data and it will work.

Thank you and apologies. I am using NT8. 8.0.20 64bit. This happens on any symbol including equities with lots of data. I posted to the ninjatrader forum and someone replied confirming this behavior but didnt offer a solution other than expand my date range

"I can confirm that I see the same behavior as described in the NinjaTrader 7 forum post. If I draw a trend channel on the daily chart then change it to a 30 minute chart it will not display correctly at first. When I change the days to load on the 30 minute chart to include the start of the trend channel, however, I do see the line correctly.

My main suggestion would be to change the days to load on your 30 minute chart so they match the range of your trend channel on the daily chart. I used 365 days on the 30 minute chart to ensure that my channel appeared correctly."
