Hei,

I wonder if someone knows how to record bidask spread from Ninjatrader 8 into an excel file?

In excel i want to see time (preferly very precise with hundreths) and what bidask spread we had at that time, so i can go back and check later.

Every time bidask spread change we get that number in new row and time it changed to new size.

Hope this is possible, it should be. Hope someone know how.

Thank you
Dave

I found this, itīs a guy that do something similar to what i want to achieve.

But i want to do it in Ninjatrader 8 and only need spread between best bidask. Look at 1.40 and forward how he somehow could get the indicators data into excel.

Does anybody know how i could do this. Most amazing would be if i could get it to save data even when my computor are of for all stocks or instruments i want to trade so i always have 10 days or so of historical bidask spread data. Is this even possible? A person with some computor knowledge would be a dream

thank you

It's simple to code but this will generate too many rows for Excel, it won't be usable.

Hey, thank you for answering.

You might be right, maybe itīs stupid to get it to excel, i just liked the fact that i could see very precise numbers that way. Excel only have something like 40 000 row when i think of it.

An indicator would be good to,

Problem i have is, i want to be able to log into my platform and have historical data available so i can see if it diverge from normal conditions or not. But all indicators iīve seen with bidask spread start from time i log in. Can we solve or work around this? Make it store when weīre not there?

Thanl you

Excel can do MANY more rows than that.......

Really, i didenīt know that. Thankīs Ron.

Do you think itīs possible to somehow always get the bidask spread for last 20 trading days when i log in, in excel or indicator. As long as i get the data both would work.

I want to see if bidask spread is higher then normal for the stock i want to trade. So i need to know some kind of median value. Itīs hard to keep track since i watch a lot of stocks.

Maybe there is other way, iīm open minded. There must be other people who have had same problem i think.

Anyway, thank you for insight about excel. Itīs a great tool

Hey,

So i wake this question up again. Iīve been trying to monitor historical bidask spread. Sadly it seem complicated since i havenīt found anything that can store bidask data even when computor is off. I need that to see what mean value of bidask spread is historically and to gauge at what times it was Wide or tight. If someone know please let me know.

Can we use implied volatility instead?

If IV is high market expect to move a lot.

If Bid/Ask spread is wide market expect movement.

Can we conclude to 100% (or close) that at times when IV has been high historically, bidask spread (in stock market) has been high aswell at those times? Or can it be situation where IV has been high but bidask spread tight since stock market hasent caught up with option market?

If this works we could use an implied volatility high low indicator instead of monitoring bidask spread which is way more complicated. But iīm not sure.

PS, iīm also looking for programers in C# for some other ideas in ninjatrader please DM me if youīre experienced.
Thank you
Dave

Hey you go bro. Here are a few C# scripts you can run in NT 8 that will output what you are looking for to your output window. From here, you just click control A (Select all), control C (Copy) and then paste this into excel. (Control V)

Once you are in excel, you go: Data > Text to Columns > Delimit > other and go with the / character. And you will have your columns with all the data.

I wrote this stuff like 5 years ago and don't recall what was what exactly, but if you peak at these you should be able to figure out what you need easily.
