Does anyone know if you need to have a live NT8 license to be able to trade a funded TopStepTrader account? I had a look at the website and it wasn't very clear.
Cheers
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
Yes, I believe they provide you the platform for the combine and if you pass the combine and move on to a funded account you'll need a live key to trade the real account. That's my understanding anyway.
The TST help pages all point to the fact you need a license ( https://help.futures.topstep.com/hc/en-us/articles/115010515748-Platform-Comparison- ), another example page, as TheShrike and Bob said.
But then the Ninjatrader Brokerage allows one to trade live without a license, but paying higher commission ( https://ninjatrader.com/LicenseComparison ). So as TST use the Brokerage too why wouldn't you be able to trade live through them without a license? That way a person could start live with TST and see whether they are profitable without having to buy a license first.
TST support are very good. If you want a definitive answer I would email them.
You do not win as a trader, you just get to play again the next day. If that game doesn’t appeal to you then you should not trade. Gary Norden
Good point. But the free license is also somewhat limited in functionality. per the link @matthew28 provided, so a lot of traders would probably pass on this option, assuming TST supports it, which I expect they probably do.
Checking with support is the best course if you want to find out.
