Big Mike,

I was reading your post on your hardware and since I am computer security guy and overall junky I have never heard of your router "I have a redundant router from TP-Link that allows me to load balance and failover my two internet connections (DSL + Cable)." Can you tell me what version allows you to have a failover between DSL and Cable as I have two conncetions right now - Cable and then USB aircard from verizon.

I was looking for a router that would allow me to use my usb card from verizon as my connection but haven't found one yet =0

Any ideas would help me out thanx!

I moved from General to Off-Topic.

I use a TP-Link TL-R480-T+ which can be found here:
TL-R480T+

It lets you take two WAN ports (DSL, Cable, FiOS, etc) and then load balance and make redundant connections. It is dirt cheap, I paid about $100 I think.

Not sure on your verizon wireless card. It was designed for a stand-alone uplink like a DSL router or Cable Modem router, FiOS router, or a real CSU/DSU Cisco-type router.

There is a router that will accept a mobile broadband card from Cradlepoint. I'm considering one now since my cable connection has been a problem for over a week.

The cradlepoint router (mbr1000) will automatically switch over to your mobile broadband card if it detects the cable or dsl signal dropping and switch back when it comes back up.

Costs 200-250 plus the cost of the broadband card, but may be worth it if you're connection isn't rock solid. I live somewhat rural, so I have my share of problems.

Hope that helps!

If you were to invest in one today, would you get the same router? Any negative experiences with it? I'm ready to take the multi wan router plunge soon and would appreciate any suggestions.

I don't know if the same one is still available, but I've never had any problems with it. I link TP-Link so much that I actually recently replaced my 4 year old WiFi router with one of their new routers, and it is spanking the crap out of that old DLink POS. So I am happy with them based on my two experiences.

But there may be other vendors selling dual WAN routers, I haven't done any research since I bought mine years ago.
