I'm trying to create a strategy that can buy a share of something and short a sell of another. I have already found the Data1 and Data2 to analyze various data from each symbol (like the close of one and the close of the other), but I can't figure out how to make a trade. To make a trade I'm using "Buy next bar at market", but is there a way to write something like "Buy next bar at market of Data2" that would specify which symbol to purchase? Thanks!

Hi tannerhelton,

welcome to futures.io. Using legacy EasyLanguage you can only execute orders on Data1, so you would require two separate charts. Using Object Oriented EasyLanguage order objects you could trade more than one symbol from the same chart, but this would be a lot more complex and you wouldn't be able to back test it.
You will likely find some discussions about what you have in mind in the official Tradestation forum that might be worth checking out.

Regards,

ABCTG

What do you mean by legacy easylanguage is there some sort of new thing I’m missing? Also thanks for the info!

Hi tannerhelton,

legacy EasyLanguage is basically the EasyLanguage before the Object Oriented EasyLanguage additions.

If you wanna trade 2 diff stocks the same time. you have to run 2 charts and strategy.

that means you only can trade data1.

eoweft,

as far as legacy Easylanguage is concerned that is correct. However you can trade multiple symbols from the same chart or even from Radarscreen using Object Oriented Easylanguage. The downside is that this will only work in real time and generally takes a lot more code compared to legacy Easylanguage strategies.
