Hi,

I am a new member here, looking forward to participate in discussions and contribute where ever I can. Thank you very much for your help.

My system is developed entirely in Java and it gets the data feed from IQFeed. I am looking for a trading platform that would allow me to place trades from my system. My trades are mainly based on getting the direction/trend correct, so the speed of execution is not a concern. I am missing the opportunities by the time I get to the computer when there is a signal in the middle of night, I just want the system shoot an order first before I get back to the computer.

I see that AMP Futures offers API access via CQG, their API is in C#/.Net but I can write a server with listener port on their API and have my system send orders via TCP/IP port. I see this as one possible solution, but please let me know if you could suggest a different trading platform or a different approach to go about my requirement. My trading is limited to Emini ES futures contracts only. I am an experienced developer, any programming platform should be fine, just looking for a trading platform that suits my requirement. Any trading platform with API access for submitting order would suffice, other features like charting, real-time data, indicators ... etc. are not required.

Thank you

I believe, although could be wrong, that CQG is making now more efforts towards their CQG Web API. I would look further whether the C# is available and what is the cost.

Also, I would suggest looking into the Rithmic API. They have C#, C++ and a new API called R Protocol that may work with your specs. If you gain contact with us, we would be more than happy to supply the API for 30 days for your testing.

Thank you,
Matt Z

If you have an account with Interactive Brokers you can access your account via their IB API for data and placing orders in futures, stocks, options, forex and any market they support.

https://www.interactivebrokers.com/en/index.php?f=5041

There's an active community of IB API developers here

The API is definitely quirky, but once you get used to its quirks it works pretty well.

If you just want to trade futures, Optimus is a good broker to work with, and you can use the APIs mentioned, or just use Ninjatrader if you don't mind learning some C#.

I thought of posting an update as my transition to new platform is completed after I started this thread.

I searched around a bit more for different platforms with API access and decided to go with Rithmic API platform and Optimus Futures for IB. On-boarding has been very smooth, @mattz from Optimus Futures has been extremely helpful in getting API access to Rithmic Test and Paper Trading platforms very quickly. After testing for a few days, I got API access to live trading platform and completed the transition.

As for my original question about finding a suitable trading platform to integrate my java based application, I ended up adding simple listener port to the sample programs provided with Rithmic API, converted it into a bridge program with few minor changes here and there.

Response time on Rithmic live platform is simply amazing. I am seeing 1.5 to 2 milliseconds for ES futures, on Rithmic server timestamps from order received to completed/processed with the CME exchange. Another 25 milliseconds to send the order from east coast to Rithmic server in Chicago, but that delay is because of my desktop and ISP, not related to Rithmic.

One interesting thing with Rithmic market data is that the depth of order book is not 10 or 20 levels on each side, it is the entire order book, I have never seen this kind of data before

Thank you very much @mattz for your help.
