I just bought an MC license, hugely impressed with platform capabilities and speed.

Major issue seems getting historical data into MC, do you know a way to get Ninja data (market replay and/or NT stored data) into MC? I also run TradeStation but concerned with 1-minute time stamp however will use it if easy and it works...

MC has an ascii importer which looks cumbersome (needs to have correct format etc), maybe there's an indicator which grabs then exports (in correct format) data for MC?

How are others getting data into MC???

Thanks in advance.

TT,

I had no problems importing my historical data into MultiCharts using the QuoteManager and ASCII map.

I wrote my own indicator (strategy, technically) that just exports tick data and minute data, but you can use the better one from MXASJ here.

So just 'backtest' it on a 1-tick chart, and have it export data. If you are using NT 6.5 you can only backtest maybe 30 days or so at a time before it runs out of memory. If using NT7, you can backtest everything at once. I exported a couple years of data at once.

Then importing that into MC was simple for me. You'll need to provide more details about the exact problems you were having.

Mike

Thanks BigMike,

I used NT 7 download data mgr and was able to get ~5 months tick data for 4 futures instruments. I didn't realize the MultiCharts data importer used file recognition to discern...

It worked great and was super easy (no issues with default settings on NT or MC).

You have much historical tick data for NT Market Replay Recorder on the site, do you know of a way to get that data exported and then into MC?

Hey guys

i just have Multicharts, i have connected the Zenfire feed works great, but obviously i have no historical data.

And i need some to backtest.

So I read I can import data from NT, I did try myself through quote manager, ascii map, but got a bit lost.

so if anyone could give me an idiots guide of how to do it would be really appreciated.

Thanks

Hi All -
I am looking for a data provider other than IB to import equity data for minute charts into Multicharts. Right now I use IB but as you know their are limitations on data so I cannot run anything more than 5 or 10 charts. I have tried Tradestation which is fast but I still find some speed issues during market hours. TS is fast after market hours. Are their any data providers that you can recommend that are both fast and reasonably priced to use with MC?
My trading involves identifying an opportunity during the day and throwing it into MC and need to be able to download stock minute data as fast as possible so I can turn Autotrade for my script on.

Thanks

I second that. IQFeed is rock solid and I am very happy with it for years.

Thanks. Whats the approximate cost for equity data? If it is fast pulling in data during market hours that would be a huge help.
