UK based newbie, been trying to suss out this trading malarky for a little while now, still with no success, although managed to find a large number of marketers....
Attempted CFDs, but swaying towards Futures for the regulatory, direct exchanges etc. Now, just need to find a method that works for me.
Could I ask if anyone can direct me to good simulated platform, and data access?
Much appreciated, hope everyone is finding success.

Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
You will find that many people here use NinjaTrader - I use it too, although it is not my "main" platform, so to speak. I prefer CQG which has a very realistic SIM engine. I also prefer it in terms of reliability and robustness.
In terms of data feeds, I have always used CQG so I'm unable to draw comparisons, but I'm sure others can give their take.
The most popular CQG platform is probably QTrader which has a 2-week free trial. The monthly cost is 40 USD.
On the other hand, you can download NinjaTrader 8 and use it for simulation completely free.
Again, other people who have experienced different platforms (SierraChart, TradeStation, TOS, etc.) can share their insight too.

Who hasn't spent a ton.....lol.....
But still a lower cost to start this business that a traditional one.
This business of Trading is like any normal business but on steroids.
For example, I have a friend who flips houses. He is good at it but I would consider him small time. Buying small homes. He keeps it tight. Only has a handful of employees and flips what I consider real beat up gross properties. He makes them nice but they are in places somewhat questionable.
I spoke to him about his risk, once. I mentioned about a tree falling or storm damage, for instance, on a house he was flipping. He said, "well that's an act of God". My buddy is a great guy and I have known him just over 10 years and he makes a good living for his family, his wife does a lot with the kitchens in these flips.
But........I could tell by the way he answered he doesn't really understand his risks. Just because it is not something you did does not mean it's not still your risk. Trading on the other hand therefore is like a business on steroids, forces you to understand ALL YOUR RISKS. At least the traders that know what they are doing.

Buy Low And Sell High (read left to right or right to left....lol)
Blash, I think that is one of the attractions of the financial markets, it the potential low cost set ups for business, once you can see past the stigma of those who perceive it to be gambling.
I think its great, would love to work for myself, but I couldn't sell ice to someone dehydrating in the desert! So, I would love to get my head round this.
