I have noticed for the past couple of days crude is really quiet during the asian session but gold has some decent movement is this fairly typical? Most of my time is spent trading gold during the asian session as there is more opportunity and I tend to monitor both during the european session

Yes, Gold very often starts a nice move at 8 pm CT (start of the Japanese session)
