Do we have any alternatives to the Jigsaw DOM?

Hi all,

I'm somewhat new in using the DOM and orderflow analysis, but not new to the markets and already have an existing methodology. So, I'm not looking to become a DOM trader or scalper per se, but see it as potentially useful tool, although I'm not 100% convinced on that either.

The Jigsaw DOM looks great. I'd love to use it. But paying nearly $600 just for a DOM is a bit more than I can take right now, particularly considering that I'm not even quite sold on it's utility yet and have other expenses (full NT license, datafeed, etc.).

Are there any good alternatives to consider?

I wish Peter could consider:

a) Offering a lease option

b) Offering only the DOM as a plug-in to NT8

Thanks in advance for all input and help.

Howard

Sierra Charts has very good DOM. Highly customizable and you can do anything and even more than in Jigsaw + you have very good charting system than runs smoothly. Plus side is that if you trade live, even the montly lease for most expensive package is cheaper than 50$ you have to pay with Jigsaw.

I switched from Jigsaw and I will highly recommend checking it out. It has 15 days free trial.

Kuuluud,

Sierra Charts is probably a very good suggestion and one I had in mind already. I tried the platform briefly and didn't like the charts or user interface since I have used NT for so long, but I suppose using the DOM would be an alternative.

Mind saying why you went from Jigsaw to Sierra? Would you be interested in selling your Jigsaw license (provided that's legal)?

Also, would be nice if you could post a screenshot of your DOM.

There were few personal reasons why I like Sierra Charts more than Jigsaw:
1. Lower fees.
2. Charting - You get access to Volume Profile studies, Market Depth studies etc. I and some of my comrades I trade with ended up recreating the Jigsaw Auction Vista what is visually more appealing to me and information I am looking for is easier to read.

There are other small nuances.

I still think the Jigsaw has very good DOM and is superb program to use. Leaderboard and trade statistics are great extra tools to use.

I could consider re-selling the license if it is legal. Maybe @DionysusToast can clarify, if I am allowed to do so.

Hi, Kuuluud,

Thank you for the very useful information and also for the nice picture. The DOM looks really nice.

Sierra does indeed seem like a very good alternative.

As of today, I think there's no way I'd pay a full Jigsaw price just for that DOM as it's infinitely much more expensive than Sierra.

But if I could buy a used license, maybe. Please let me know if you find out.

Thanks.

Howard

Did you try adding the Volume Profile column to the SuperDOM? Did you also check out Order Flow + that comes with a NinjaTrader 8 Lifetime license?

Hi,

No, I haven't and I just tried now, but no luck. Do I need the full license for this?

I'm currently leasing it, but am paying for it for sure.

I imagine if I could set the DOM up that way, I'd be well on my way. Not having to deal with additional software would also be an advantage.

As a Lease holder, you have access to the SuperDOM Columns. Here is the relevant Help Guide reference https://ninjatrader.com/support/helpGuides/nt8/en-us/using_superdom_columns.htm.

With respect to Order Flow +, you would need to upgrade to a Lifetime license.

Thanks a lot for that and for the link. I just set it up right now. An improvement for sure.
