From time to time I see market behavior that I believe is suspicious. Spoofing or fake liquidity in particular is a market behavior that I see from time to time that is supposed to be against the rules. For a long time I thought that the spoofing was going away, but it seems to have come back in the past quarter. I record every session, and sometimes forget about these so I figured I should start a collection.

That is not to say that anything presented in this thread is proof of wrongdoing. There could be other explanations for such market behavior that is legitimate. I am only saying that I think these moves are suspicious, and that maybe the exchanges and law enforcement should look into it. I should also warn everyone that there's probably going to be a lot of salt in this threat. A lot of traders feel that they've lost money from such manipulation. Maybe it is the case that they could have read the action and avoided the loss better, but that doesn't change the fact that such market manipulation is supposed to be illegal.

Here is my first example. At around 9:04 Eastern Time on 8/8/2018 the ZN ticked down, and immediately over 9k contracts were offered at 119'150. We ticked down further to 119'140 where over 6k contracts traded before moving us back up. Price then continued moving up and took out the highs of the day.

This one is a little different as it isn't spoofing. Treasuries were trending down, and we saw some huge icebergs around the 119'010 level in ZN. Over 24k contracts traded there which might be the largest I've ever seen. Shortly afterwards the Chinese announced more tariffs against the United States. You can see the iceberg at about 0:33:00 in the video

This is not the first time I've seen this kind of trade just before China made such an announcement either. Now, I don't think this is considered nonpublic information, so it's not wrong to trade it. However it could fall under the umbrella of market manipulation. You have to wonder who it was. Was it just some businessman with good connections? Or perhaps China itself is involved?

Just a theory of course...
