I know copyrighted material is not to be posted on this Forum however, I am in the process of converting some NT7 indicators to NT8 and if I want to share it here I have a bit of a dilemma.
I just started converting some indicators and not being an accomplished C# or Ninjascript programmer instead of going through the NT8 learning curve early on I decided rather than covert mine I would see if I could retrofit my indicator specific code into an existing NT8 indicator (not NTs). Fat Tails from LizardIndicators has a very wide selection and having used his NT7 indicators as part of my learning experience I figured I would start there.
However, the NT8 indicators that he freely makes available are protected by a Copyright. To confuse things a bit more they are made available under the GNU General Public License and in the code it states, "you can redistribute it and/or modify it under the terms of the GNU ...". It appears that Fat Tails doesn't mind if his indicators (some of) are modified and freely distributed but, the Copyright part appears to be in conflict with what is stated on Futures IO. I am using the overall indicator code structure as a base (which is not an insignificant amount) but not any of the indicator specific algorithms.
So, given that it is my intent to share this indicator on Future IO, my questions are:
1. Can I post it given it is Copyrighted (paid members section only)?
2. And if so, is there any specific verbiage that needs to be included in the posting (note that my intent is to give credits to LizardIndicators anyway)?
I left the unaltered Copyright and GNU comments in the indicator code but unless one looks at the source code without some notation somewhere else they would not know of the restrictions or licensing agreement. In order to download an indicator from the LizardIndicators site there is specific action a user must do to signify agreement with the T&Cs. Futures IO does not have the same agreement mechanism.
