Good Morning or Afternoon To All,

As a new member I thank you for allowing me the opportunity to join.

I would like to find out if anyone knows of a data feed for the "ASX" Australian markets; being I am here in Australia and would like to continue to trade equities.

I am interested in purchasing "Ninjatrader" and have found out that most data feeds do not accommodate the ASX Australian markets.

Also, as I am embarking on learning the art of trading futures I would appreciate any support in guiding me to the correct vendor. I prefer to not have to register at this stage with a broker service who may offer Ninjatrader for free with data EOD. I prefer to be able to move freely in the future and not be restricted to one brokerage service and have the freedom to operate my own platform (Ninjatrader) and pay for data ASX and Commodities / futures.

I know that there is a multi license set up with Ninjatrader but again I prefer not going down that path right now.

Thanking you in advance for your assistance.

The options are limited for ASX, further so depending on what your requirements are;

- Were you looking for just EOD data or live intraday?
- Is L2 data important for you (full market depth)
- Do you require accurate tick data or is 5sec - 1min live data sufficient

Depending on the above requirements there are options ranging from ~$50p/m to $200+ p/m

Thanks for the reply.

I would like the cost break up for what you have mentioned:

1. EOD data fees?

2. Live intraday fees?

3. L2 data is important (full market depth) fees?

4. Accurate tick data fees would be preferred.

5. But the fees for just having 5sec - 1min live data would suffice for now.

If bundled for some of the above is at a better fee, then that would be great.

Thanks again for your support.

Was it just Futures data you are after or ASX equities data?

Futures data is quite easy, CQG support SPI so any broker that has CQG can get you going. (ampfutures.com have demo accounts, I'm sure optimusfutures.com can also get you a demo)

If you are after equities, that is a bit trickier, I have a list of all major providers if that's what you are after.

Here is a list of different providers pros/cons;

Interactive Brokers
Brokerage & Data supply - Futures & ASX Equities
Pros: cheap data, access to any international market, good brokerage, cfd's available for us in Aus too. Most charting platforms support connection
Cons: Data is not pure tick data, it is live data but the volume is not accurate at tick level (they aggregate trades). It is ok if using at > 1min charting intervals. Their supplied platform is not great so you will want to use a 3rd party charting solution.
Costs: data fees for ASX markets are $25 for ASX equities & $22 for ASX Futures (p/m)

Market Delta Desktop
Platform + Data - Futures & ASX Equities
Pros: It is a white label version of CQG IC I believe, so very powerful
Cons: The ASX Equities data is tick based but does not contain Bid/Ask data so no delta tools can be used with it. There is also no L2 information for the equities. I do not know if you can connect this data to 3rd party platforms either.
Costs: $199 for platform + $24 for Equities + $12 for Futures (p/m)

E-Signal
Platform + Data - Futures & Equities
Pros: Accurate tick & full market depth available for both ASX Futures & Equities, data can be using in other supported charting platforms (ninja, multicharts)
Cons: Market depth is not supported in 3rd party platforms (only inside bid/ask)
Costs: To get everything needed probably over $270 p/m, everything is an additional charge

TradingView.com
Web based platform + Data - Equities only
Pros: nice web platform + equities scanner, probably one of the cheapest ways to get live ASX equities data.
Cons: limited to the web platform, no asx futures data available.
Costs: ~$30 (p/m)

Sierra Chart
Charting platform that also includes free historical (and delayed) data for equities & futures
Pros: Excellent charting & trading platform (I think one of the best), includes ~6yrs of 1min historical data for ASX Equities. Easy to link with CQG for live Futures data too
Costs: Starts at $25 (p/m)

Good Afternoon,

I am extremely grateful to the depth of your reply.

I will examine each one and gauge how beneficial in the long term each would be for my trading style.

I will let you know which one I decide on.

Once again many thanks for the depth of information that you have given me.

Best wishes for your trading.

HI!

I trade the ASX200 and reside in Melbourne Australia I have a account with FXCM.who has a live data feed for most Indices including the ASX200, moreover they also supply a data feed into Ninjatader if you have an account with FXCM for the ASX200. They also have there own platform whereby you can open a demo account and use there data feed.
regards

Good Evening,

Thanks to all that have answered my inquiry.

I am still looking into each persons reply and analyzing whether I will use two accounts and see which one in the next six months is worth continuing with.

Thanks again.
