Platform recommendation for Algo trading without coding
I have a trading idea that coded thanks to a Expert Advisor builder for Metatrader5. In demo mode it was doing fine but in the live account it was a disaster due to the terrible slippage of Metatrader... 1-3 ticks per trade on the MINI ES, even though the algo was trading in Metatraders' VPS...
So, I am looking to find a platform to allow me design and trade automatically easy strategies, place native stop limit orders without any slippage with an easy to use algo design tool, some kind of visual or easy to learn system preferably on a Browser or Mac os.
Any recommendation? Thanks!!
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
Was this using ES Futures or a index CFD product? seems like high slippage for the ES Futures, even in ETH.
I cant think of any platforms which will meet those requirements, most will need you to do some level of code logic, or the visual strategy builders are all windows based.
If you are looking for algo trading, then you have to go with NinjaTrader. It has an easy strategy builder interface that makes building an algo a drag and drop function. Once you hack around and get familiar with it, it is fairly easy to get into the actual code file and make manual adjustments. You won't find a more capable programming language for trading than C# in the long run, and it is the most widely supported (At least on here) platform with tons of algo traders and code samples, etc. Some of the other platforms are just not that popular, lack the developer community, documentation, etc. So down the road when you are trying to scale and want to do something cool or crazy, you may struggle. But with NinjaTrader you can build anything you can come up with.. Maybe not literally a personal starting to code from scratch, but a strong developer could built anything you can think of for you.
You can also check TradingView and you may be able to do what you want to do and you can even connect it to a broker. But I can not comment more because I never use it, I only use FINVIZ but not for backtest.
I am on the same boat. I'm using Metatrader 5 with AMP, and a universal automated strategy builder based on indicators, money management , time, days, etc that I purchased from the market.
My limitation is volume, and tick charts, which Metatrader doesn't have.
