I'm exploring automation for the first time, and I was wondering what you guys would consider to be the most profitable automated strategy, one that could be purchased or developed (if need be) and where I might purchase such a program.
I've traded for years, but never automated, and didn't realize how much stuff is actually out there for fully automated systems. I'm drowning in confusing information and marketing, and am more confused than when I started.

To your question about what type of automated systems are the most profitable. There is no doubt that the most profitable are of the High Frequency Trading class.
If you are looking to buy something be very skeptical, I doubt that anything for sell out there is very good. If someone has a system that generates x amount of money on a consistent basis, then scaling the system by adding contracts or setting up a duplicate system on a second server would be far more profitable than just selling it on the web for others to use. I mean no one would likely pay more than a few hundred up to a few thousand at most for some guy claiming his system could generate money, so there is more risk than reward in putting such a working system out there in the first place. If it really worked to begin with just scale it....
I have built hundreds of automated systems myself, and only over the last two years have I gotten to the point where any of them were profitable. It is a ton of work but it can be done.
First let me say that I am not a day trader, I am a programmer, statistician and mathematician by trade. I started analyzing the futures markets about 10 years ago as more of a hobby / gag just to bust on a friend that though he could predict the market …
