I just recently set up CQG and Multicharts. It's been really disappointing since then. I've been trying to obtain a continuous contract for the past 3 day, following online tutorials to set up a custom symbol for EP (mini S&P). However, when I start a chart, data only extends a year back (I ask for 5 years of data). I searched and tried different settings, deleting and inserting symbols, I even reinstalled MC with no luck. To my knowledge, CQG supplies at least a decade of daily data. What am I missing? Is this a MC problem or CQG problem? Thanks in advance
I tried that, and it says "NO DATA". I confirmed CQG is connected, and confirmed that I did add all contracts since 2005. The chart that I get for a continuous symbol only goes back to October 2016, and has a bunch of dashes (like what you would see on a very illiquid contract). Also, on a minute interval, I only get about a month worth of data.
if the individual contracts come up with "No Data" this might indicate that the problem is not within MC, but that your provider doesn't deliver the data anymore.
Thanks @ABCTG... you are correct... I finally was able to confirm from AMP that CQG only provides a couple of months of data which was a surprise to me. I was under the impression that CQG provides a few years of data!!
I have Tradestation as well so I can use that for historical data, is there a way to import that data to Multicharts to fill in the historical gaps?
this depends on the version you are using. For the versions that you buy from Multicharts you can connect Tradestation directly. This will not work with the special edition, but you should be able to add the missing data in the Quotemanager by importing ASCII data.
I have been using CQG+AMP+MC and suffering the same trouble recently as well . It's now very inconvenient for proceeding strategy back test since historical data are no longer available!!! Is there any economic substitutional solution for such situation? I don't have a tradestation account on hand..
I have stepped into this same trap. On AMP's website on the CQG data page (I can't post the link), "Decades of the industry’s most accurate historical data are available for traders to use."
I can confirm that with MC + CQG also today in november 2019 I'm only able to see , for example in the case of the crude oil, the January contract and the december contract (expired 2 days ago) and I'm not able to see november, october....
