Not planning on upgrading my current trading box from 7 to 10 so I found a useful Windows boot-time speedup today; CompatTelRunner.exe (Microsoft's inter-release compatibility telemetry that runs on every boot) can be disabled, thereby saving oodles of pointless disk bashing if you're not planning an OS upgrade. I suspect it can be done for 10 as well but that might still be in too much flux.
Google will find several methods and instructions, but the scheduled tasks thingy wouldn't do it for me so I went via this route:
We basically change its owner from being TrustedInstaller so we can get permission to rename it.
1) Find it in the C:/Windows/System32 folder
2) Right mouse to Open Properties
3) Select the Security tab
4) Click Advanced
5) Select the Owner tab
6) Click Edit...
7) Select Administrators and Click OK
8) Say OK to the security warning and then close open dialogs.
9) Re-open the original Properties dialog and give Administrators Full Control (click the checkbox) then click OK
10) Rename CompatTelRunner.exe to CompatTelRunnerWAS.exe or do whatever evil celebration you prefer instead.
Much faster boot times for those of us who still have the old spinning things and maybe even a tiny bit of lifetime saving for the solid-state types.
Cheers
